With the rise of internet businesses and companies producing shiny, new ways to share, organize and work together, IT professionals have begun putting their money where their mouse is with increased quality assurance software testing.

Janova executives joined Governor Kasich on Friday, June 24, to publicly accept tax incentives offered by the state of Ohio and the city of New Albany for an expansion that could add 116 jobs to its existing staff of 36 workers.

The ever-increasing need to be more competitive is driving development companies to rely on third-party vendors and outsourced providers for the code they use to create their software.

If 88% of companies surveyed are ready to make the switch to an automated testing tool then what is holding them back? In short: the resistance to change. According to the Kurt Lewin and Edgar Schein Change Theory, “humans seek homeostasis and equilibrium”, meaning a predictable and stable world – including their workplace. However, with the right guidance and preparation, development companies can implement an automated software testing tool without the fear and anxiety brought on by this change.

A recent survey performed by AppLabs, a software testing and quality management company, was given among analysts and IT experts of approximately 2,000 companies globally.

At the heart of the software development process is a dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) team.

Part of running a successful business is recognizing changes in the industry and adapting to them. In many cases, companies don’t survive if they are unable to adjust to those changes. According to a news article on iTWire.com, the software industry is experiencing a shortfall in software testers with an additional 1,500 to 2,000 testers needed by next year. This begs the question as to why are there not enough testers to satisfy the need of the industry? This is mainly due to the increased awareness of software testing and its importance being widely recognized and accepted. Because of this, the need for an automated testing tool becomes critical and imperative to a business' success.

For those not familiar with the Pelotonia it is a charity cycling event that helps raise funds for the Comprehensive Cancer Center and James Cancer Hospital/Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. The ride itself consists of a route, traveling from Columbus, Ohio to Athens, Ohio and back to Canal Winchester, Ohio. This is a full two-day, 180-mile route and participants can choose from a 23, 43, 102 and 180-mile route.

There are many things that go into the creation of quality software – professional people, the right processes, and a reliable software testing tool. Its success depends on this delicate balance and, if skewed or imbalanced toward one element over another, the software will not be functional or efficient.
